EXXADON GRANTED U.S. PATENT ON MICROWAVE PROCESS
July 12, 1996
Exxadon is pleased to announce that CLE has been granted its patent for the Emery Microwave Process in the United States of America. The patent covers the actual process, not just the design of the machine, and therefore encompasses a very wide range of potential applications. Exxadon/EWMC has the exclusive rights to the process in the U.S. for Rubber Reduction (including tires), Medical Waste Reduction, Plastic Reduction, Soil Remediation, PCB Breakdown, Municipal Waste Reduction and Auto Shredder Residue (Auto Fluff) Reduction. The patent on the process has been applied for throughout the world.

The Exxadon/EWMC process has many striking differences when compared to the other microwave processes presently available. Unlike these other processes, which usually use the microwave energy as a source of heat, Exxadon/EWMC, through this patented process, uses the microwave energy to actually break the molecular bonds of long chain hydrocarbons, reverting all of the different compounds back to their original components. In the case of medical waste, this results in a totally sterilized carbon residue, free from all living bacteria, viruses and spores. This residue, aside from representing a 60 to 80 percent size reduction from the original waste, is also totally safe for landfill without any additional treatment or processing required. This unique use of microwave energy means that the Exxadon/EWMC Medical Waste Processors are not only effective for use on standard medical waste, but can also be used on biohazardous as well as anatomical waste, without any hazardous emission or byproducts. All claims of the processes effectiveness on medical waste have been backed up by reports for The University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Microbiology.

The Exxadon/EWMC Rubber Tire Processor uses this same principle to safely and effectively break rubber tires back down to their original components. A 20 pound car tire will yield over 9 pounds of high grade carbon black, 2 pounds of steel and just under 1 U.S. gallon of diesel oil. All of this is accomplished economically, with no toxic emissions or harm to the environment. The pilot plant in Ajax, Ontario, has been in operation, on a demonstration basis, since September 1994, and has proven the effectiveness and viability of the process to hundreds of interested parties.

Exxadon/EWMC is continuing to work on sales with Enercon in the United States, as well as United Medical in both Brazil and the rest of South America. The company is continuing to strengthen its ties with its strategically aligned partners, and has continued to work closely with these companies to develop both better working relationships and better mutual understandings. The company is very confident that its efforts in these areas will pay off with additional future sales.
