Exxadon/EWMC is very pleased to announce that the Ministry of Environment
and Energy of Ontario (MOEE) has granted Exxadon/EWMC a permanent Certificate
of Approval under Section 9 of the Ontario Environmental Protection Act
for the pilot Rubber Tire Reduction facility in Ajax, Ontario, Canada. The
Certificate of Approval represents the MOEE's sanction that the air emissions
from the Rubber Tire Reduction facility meets the Ministry's strict standards.
The MOEE based its acceptance on information gathered from the EWMC Environmental Waste Management Corporation's test bed Rubber Tire Reduction facility in Ajax. The technical data was gathered and certified by Conestoga-Rovers & Associates, a third party independent environmental engineering firm, responsible for overseeing the ongoing testing of the facility. The Application included the results of an extensive stack testing and air monitoring program conducted by Conestoga-Rovers & Associates, a multinational environmental engineering firm, which demonstrated that the air emissions from the Tire Recycling Unit do not result in any exceedances of the MOEE's Regulation 346 Point of Impingement standards. The Ministry of Environment also had a representative present while the data was being collected. During most of the stack testing program, which extended over four days, an internal combustion engine was powered exclusively by the off gases generated by the Tire Recycling Unit. The internal combustion engine serves the dual purpose of destroying hydrocarbons while at the same time generating power which may be recycled. The Exxadon/EWMC Rubber Tire Reduction Facility in Ajax, Ontario, Canada uses the patented Emery Microwave Process to safely and economically break rubber tires back down to their original components. A 20 pound car tire will yield over 9 pounds of carbon black, 2 pounds of steel and .75 US gallon of oil. The pilot plant has been in operation since September 1994, and has proven the effectiveness of the process. The granting of the permanent Certificate of Approval for this facility reaffirms the company's position that their Tire Reduction Processors operate in a safe, environmentally friendly manner without producing any toxic emissions. Exxadon/EWMC has the exclusive rights to the Process for Medical Waste Reduction, Rubber Reduction (including tires), Plastic Reduction, Soil Remediation, PCB Breakdown, and Municipal Waste Reduction in North America, Europe, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union. Exxadon/EWMC also has the rights to Medical Waste and Rubber Reduction in South and Latin America, as well as Auto Shredder Residue (ASR) Reduction in North America. While every effort is made to keep all information current and accurate, all information is subject to change without notice. Errors and omissions excepted. © Copyright 1998-2000 |
